Multiscale and multifactor sea-groundwater interactions in southwestern Mauritania

چکیده
Coastal aquifers in semi-arid zones are particularly exposed to environmental changes because of their low annual recharge and the increasing anthropogenic pressure. This is case Trarza phreatic aquifer (SW Mauritania), which uppermost northern part great Senegalese-Mauritanian sedimentary basin. The interactions between Atlantic Ocean Tertiary-Quaternary have evolved considerably during last millennia these continuous concern nature location processes at work, intensity current consequences. In this vast region with a very flat topography, hydrodynamic geochemical observations still rare currently allow only main features recent history be reconstructed. analysis old data reveals that eustatic variations flood Senegal River were past most important factors equilibrium fresh water sea water, even far from present coastline. Today, anthropization, particular hydraulic developments urbanisation, adds complexity system. At more local scale, denser Nouakchott urban area or Diawling natural park provide better understanding dynamics.

Gatan Mud Volcanoes, Oman Sea Coast in Southwestern Hormozgan, Iran
Iran's mud volcanoes are clearly visible on the coastal plains of the Oman and Caspian Seas. There are 30 Gatan Mud Volcanoes located in the southeast of Iran: 15 of which are located between Jask and Minab in Hormozgan province, nine are between Chabahar and Jask Ports, and another six are between Chabahar and the Iran-Pakistan border in Sistan and Balouchestan Province. After some studies and...
متن کاملBacteriological Evaluation Of Groundwater In Ekiti- State, Southwestern Nigeria
Drinking contaminated groundwater can have serious health effects. Bacterial assessment of groundwater in Ekiti State was carried out to determine its potability and source(s) of pollutants. Consequently, 73 groundwater samples were collected for bacterial analysis and NO3 determination. At each location, depth of each well and depth to water table were measured using dipmeter. Temperature (°C)...
متن کاملGroundwater Inrush Caused by the Fault Reactivation and the Climate Impact in the Mining Gafsa Basin (Southwestern Tunisia)
The Gafsa mining basin district in Southwestern Tunisia is one of the most important producers of phosphate in the world. The exploitation of this district started at the beginning of the twentieth century a few years after the first discovery of this valuable resource. The over-exploitation of groundwater to wash the phosphate caused water-level decline in the main aquifers and the corollaries...

متن کاملIdentification of interactions using model-based multifactor dimensionality reduction
BACKGROUND Common complex traits may involve multiple genetic and environmental factors and their interactions. Many methods have been proposed to identify these interaction effects, among them several machine learning and data mining methods. These are attractive for identifying interactions because they do not rely on specific genetic model assumptions. To handle the computational burden aris...
